Laikipia Nest is a self catering house in Laikipia, private and exclusive use, set on a 10,000 acre working farm and conservancy near Rumuruti. Four bedrooms, a pool, river frontage and wildlife that comes and goes on its own schedule.

Fishing at Acacia Dam

Dam swimming
Japper's and Murram Dams are both good for a swim. Always look for hippo before you jump in.
Sniffer dogs
Visit the Ol Maisor bloodhounds and learn how they are trained and the security work they do here and on surrounding farms.
Cycling
Ol Maisor sits on a popular cycling route through Laikipia, with the pool waiting at the end of a hot ride.
River walks
The house has its own frontage on the Ewaso Narok, good for early mornings and birdlife.

Life at the house
The house is self catering and yours alone for the length of your stay. It is designed for long, easy days. Mornings start on the verandah with coffee and the sound of the plains waking up. Afternoons are for sprawling in the garden or escaping the sun in the cool living room, or going on an adventure around the conservancy and spotting wildlife. When the sun dips, the firepit is lit, and the wood-burning fireplace keeps the house warm long after dark. It is a place where the clocks slow down, and your internal rhythm follows suit.
On the farm, 10,000 acres of Laikipia
Ol Maisor is a working cattle and sheep farm in Laikipia, and staying here means being part of that landscape. You can walk for miles through the private conservancy without seeing another soul, just the local wildlife, zebra, giraffe, and eland, grazing alongside the livestock. If you visit in early May, we can arrange for you to see the annual shearing, and fresh produce from the local neighbourhood is often available. This isn't a manicured resort; it is a living piece of land.

How do I get to Laikipia Nest?
Ol Maisor is in Laikipia, about a 5 hour drive from Nairobi on tarmac (roughly 264km), or 2.5 hours from Nanyuki on dirt road. The closest town is Rumuruti, about 40 minutes away.
Do I need a 4x4?
Yes, 4x4 access is recommended both for the drive in and for getting around the 10,000-acre conservancy.
Is the house easy to find?
We'll send full directions once your booking is confirmed, and our team is reachable by WhatsApp if you need help on the day.

How many people does the house sleep?
The house has 4 double bedrooms: two ensuite rooms in the main house (one with a bath), and two smaller rooms in a separate cottage sharing a bathroom. Every room has space to add a single bed or cot, making it easy to fit families or groups travelling together.
Is there a cot or high chair for young children?
Yes, both a cot and a high chair are available on request.
Do you allow pets?
No. The property is unfenced and surrounded by resident wildlife, so pets aren't permitted.

Yes. Starlink WiFi is available and good enough for calls, and Safaricom has decent coverage on the property.
How is the house powered?
Solar power with a backup generator, so you're covered even on overcast days.
Is there a pool?

Is it safe for kids given the wildlife?
Ol Maisor is a genuine working farm and conservancy, so wildlife moves through freely and the house is unfenced. It's a wonderful place for children to experience real nature, but they must be supervised at all times, and the pool isn't child-fenced.
Will we see wildlife from the house?
Very likely. The 10,000-acre private conservancy is home to zebra, giraffe, eland and more, often grazing alongside the farm's livestock.
