Gilgil Nest is a characterful self catering cottage in Nakuru County, with a little river running through a private garden that belongs to the cottage alone. An open plan living space warmed by a wood burning stove, two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and outside a long table for slow lunches, and a barbecue and firepit for the evenings.

Life at the cottage
Wake to birdsong and the sound of water. The days here are unhurried: coffee in the garden, a book by the river, lunch that runs into the afternoon. When the evening cools, the wood burner goes on inside and the firepit outside, and the Rift Valley night does the rest.
Around Gilgil
The cottage sits within easy reach of Lake Elementaita and the Soysambu Conservancy, with Lake Naivasha a little further on. Flamingoes, birdlife and Rift Valley escarpment views are all close by, which makes this an easy base for a slow weekend, a stretch of remote work, or a few days exploring the lakes.

Flo's place is charming, cozy, and full of character. It's the perfect spot for a peaceful weekend escape, especially if you're looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life. The fireplace made the evenings especially memorable, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed here while playing golf at Nyahururu Golf Club and Mt. Kipipiri Golf Resort, and the location was ideal for both.
Place was great! Would recommend for anyone who wants a weekend getaway from the rush and noise of the city. Gladys was very helpful. She did everything to make sure we had a comfortable stay.
We had a change of plans and had to find a place to stay in Gilgil at the very last minute and I'm so glad we did. Staying at Flo's place was exactly what we needed and we had a lovely stay. We wanted to extend an extra night but it wasn't possible so we will have to come back.
